Every path here leads somewhere worth sitting down.
Tarn House
A twelve-room lodge on a frozen lake, 2,140 metres up. Fires lit by four, skis by the door.
Twelve rooms, one lake, and nothing on the schedule you didn’t put there yourself. We keep the fires going, the coffee strong and the trail maps up to date.
Rooms & cabins
Every room faces the water. Wood stoves in all of them, and no televisions in any.
Days here
Most guests come for the views and stay for the pace. A typical day looks something like this.

Fireside evenings
The library stays open late, and somebody always has a book recommendation.

Slow mornings
Breakfast runs until eleven. Nobody checks.

Kitchen
Bread baked here, eggs from the valley farm.

Tea with a view

The lake at dusk
Three routes from the front door, from a flat lakeside loop to the ridge.
Getting here
The last stretch is on foot, or by our shuttle in winter. We meet every guest at the trailhead, and we carry the bags.
